Week-ending

First week of classes: complete!
It’s harder than I expected to get back into “school mode”!  All week, I was itching to go do something more exciting than going to class.  So, on Friday as soon as my class was over at 11am, I went shopping!  I got some warm clothes from a couple thrift shops and from a nicer store.  The big thing here is Merino wool, so I splurged a bit and got a long sleeve Merino shirt.  It better keep me warm this winter!  For lunch, I got a rice ball at one of the many sushi restaurants in town, and of course had to stop for a flat white (espresso with milk) and a warm muffin to warm me up on a chilly afternoon at the coffee shop that is my favorite so far!  After all the shopping and errand running were over, Alecia and Siri came to my flat where we made the best homemade pizza ever: BBQ chicken pizza!  YUM.  We planned out our weekend and began to plan our mid-semester break (equivalent of spring break)!

Saturday night, we went camping.  This was not just any old camping though, we camped ON THE BEACH!  Yes!  It was so cool.  The resident director for our program showed us a nice little glade in a cove on the beach.  We got a ride down to a beach where other from our program were surfing, and we walked/climbed our way over to the beach that we stayed at, stopping on the way for various (adventurous and necessary) photos!!  We even found 2 little penguins moulting in a crack in the rocks!!

Upon arrival at our final destination, we set up camp, found wood, and made our delicious Ramen and green bean meal on the fire.  It was a cloudy day and night, but for a while the clouds broke and we could see the most amazing night sky filled with thousands upon thousands of stars!  The moon also made an eerie glow behind the fog over the horizon.  Listening to the waves constantly crashing in and spending time in relaxation with new friends was the perfect way to get away after the first week of uni classes.

I hope everyone in the Midwest is enjoying all the snow!  Merde to all the Dance 39 dancers & tech!
